History

Quinta da Portelada is located in the Douro Demarcated Region, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its main house, built in the 17th century, has a simple design, with a raised elevation at the north end, with a set of two windows and a granite apron door, which is given greater prominence by the coat-of-arms stone.

Before the extinction of the morgadio law, Casa da Portelada belonged to the lords of Casa Grande, from Vila Marim, Mesão Frio, whose ownership was maintained over several generations.
In 1975, Quinta da Portelada was acquired by the current owner, Manuel Coutinho Reis married to Zaida Monteiro, both from the parish of Sedielos, where, together with their eight children, they have kept the Quinta da Portelada house as their permanent residence.

In 2006, the owners began to realize their dream of rebuilding the Quinta da Portelada house, which was completed in 2010.

WINE

Quinta da Portelada has an area of 23 hectares of vineyards installed on terraces that wind up and down the schist slopes, at an altitude of between 270 and 440 meters.
Its location allows for the production of wines with very distinctive characteristics, thanks to the diversity of the 22 grape varieties used, including red wines with freshness and character, fresh and elegant white wines and fruity rosé wines.

FOREST

The typically Mediterranean woodlands, nestled between the vineyards and the Sermanha river, make it possible to go hiking, cycling and water sports in a setting that allows you to enjoy contact with nature. The hiking trails created within the Quinta provide access to spaces of unique beauty and tranquillity.

SWIMMING POOL

The swimming pool, used seasonally and exclusively by guests, has a depth of between 1.10m and 1.65m and is equipped with modern and comfortable outdoor furniture.
